Schematic of the New Curriculum

We have developed a new curriculum that will commence in the Fall of 2016

Based on four tenents:

  1. Holistic approach toward teaching and assessing the six IUSM competencies throughout all years (Professionalism, Medical Knowledge, Patient Care, Interpersonal Skills and Communication, Problem-Based Learning and Improvement, and System-Based Practice).
  2. More robust integration of clinical experience and basic sciences, including behavioral sciences, across all disciplines and throughout all four years of the students’ education, beginning early in the first year.
  3. Promotion of educational activities that foster self-directed learning and growth.
  4. Development of inter-professional (among physicians and other members of the health care team) learning experiences.
